Specialties

Focused, evidence-based care for four areas

Each approach is structured, active, and chosen for the specific pattern keeping you stuck.

OCD & Intrusive Thoughts

OCD is not just about being organized or worried. It can involve unwanted thoughts, checking, reassurance-seeking, mental reviewing, contamination fears, relationship doubts, harm fears, "just right" feelings, or avoidance. I use Exposure and Response Prevention, a structured and evidence-based treatment that helps you face uncertainty without relying on compulsions to get relief.

Treatment: ERP

Panic, Health Anxiety & Physical Sensations

When your body feels unsafe, anxiety can take over quickly: a racing heart, dizziness, shortness of breath, nausea, numbness, or the fear that you are losing control. I am trained in interoceptive exposure, which works directly with feared physical sensations rather than around them. Paired with CBT, we move gradually and safely so you stop fearing anxiety itself, reduce avoidance, and regain confidence in your body.

Treatment: Interoceptive Exposure & CBT

Hair Pulling, Skin Picking & Body-Focused Behaviors

Trichotillomania (hair pulling), excoriation (skin picking), nail biting, and related body-focused repetitive behaviors are not habits you can simply decide to stop. I am trained in Habit Reversal Training, a structured approach that builds awareness of your specific urges and triggers, develops a competing response you can actually use in the moment, and reduces the shame that keeps these behaviors hidden.

Treatment: Habit Reversal Training

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma can leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. I offer compassionate, trauma-informed therapy and use EMDR to help you process distressing experiences, reduce their emotional impact, and move toward greater calm, connection, and confidence at a pace that feels right for you.

Treatment: EMDR

About

Hi, I'm Emily

I specialize in helping individuals who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and the lasting effects of trauma. If you've tried to manage it on your own only to feel more overwhelmed or frustrated, you're not alone.

Many of the clients I work with are highly motivated but feel caught in patterns that don't respond to traditional talk therapy. My approach is different. I use evidence-based treatments, including Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD and anxiety, EMDR for trauma, interoceptive exposure for panic and feared physical sensations, and Habit Reversal Training for hair pulling, skin picking, and other body-focused repetitive behaviors, along with CBT and DBT strategies. These approaches are structured, active, and designed to create real, lasting change.

I am a Certified Ex/RP Therapist through the University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA), have completed intensive EMDR training through an EMDRIA-approved program, and am trained in interoceptive exposure for panic and in Habit Reversal Training for body-focused repetitive behaviors.

Therapy with me is both supportive and direct. We'll work together to understand what's happening and help you respond in a new, more effective way.
