The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.
Hi, I’m Emily a Licensed Professional Counselor–Associate, and I’m really glad you’re here. I know reaching out for support takes courage, and my goal is to make that first step feel safe and supported. I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), approaches that help people manage anxiety, process trauma, overcome OCD patterns, and build healthier ways of thinking and coping. In our work together, you’ll find a compassionate, collaborative space to explore your experiences, strengthen your skills, and move toward healing and personal growth at your own pace.
Professional Development
Academic training
With comprehensive training in clinical counseling, I hold a master's degree from Capella University. My academic journey included extensive coursework in psychological theories, therapeutic techniques, and practical internships, equipping me with the skills to support clients in diverse settings effectively. My education has provided a solid foundation in mental health care, preparing me to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues with compassion and expertise.
Specialized Training
I am trained in several evidence-based modalities that allow me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. My background includes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for treating anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), helping clients gradually face fears and reduce rituals in a supportive environment. I am also EMDRIA-trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective approach for healing trauma, reducing anxiety, managing OCD symptoms, and targeting negative core beliefs that interfere with self-worth and well-being. In addition, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build practical skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Together, these approaches support holistic healing and lasting emotional growth.
Clinical experience
I have clinical experience in behavioral therapy, working with children and adults. I specialize in addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, including anxiety, depression, mood, and personality disorders. My approach involves individualized, evidence-based strategies to help clients modify problematic behaviors, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and improve their well-being. Through compassionate and tailored interventions, I support clients in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life.
Therapy Approaches
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By focusing on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT empowers clients to develop healthier ways of thinking and coping with life's challenges. It's effective for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress management, promoting lasting positive change.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and improve relationships. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices to enhance emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills.
Child Play Therapy
Child Play Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play to help children express their emotions, process experiences, and resolve psychological issues. Through various play activities, children can communicate at their level and pace, making therapy a natural and comfortable process. This method is particularly effective for young children who might struggle to express themselves verbally, providing them with a safe and supportive environment to explore their feelings and develop healthier coping strategies.
Exposure Therapy
Exposure Therapy is an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals confront and reduce fear or anxiety related to specific situations, objects, or memories. By gradually and repeatedly exposing clients to the feared stimulus in a controlled and safe environment, the therapy aims to desensitize the anxiety response. This process enables individuals to gain confidence, decrease avoidance behaviors, and improve their overall quality of life. It's particularly effective for treating anxiety disorders, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based approach that helps clients process and release the impact of trauma, anxiety, OCD, and distressing experiences.
Let's Talk
